Under normal conditions oxygen is a colorless and odorless gas. Elemental oxygen gas is usually found as a two atom molecule. The atom has six outer electrons. To attain a stable electron configuration it can take up two electrons.
The element oxygen has the atomic number 8 and is in the sixth main group. Its atomic mass is 15.999 u, its atomic radius is 60 pm.
