Earth was formed around 4.5 billion years ago and was probably surrounded by a layer of hydrogen and helium very early on. However, it took several billion years for the atmosphere to stabilize. It was probably not until 350 million years ago that Earth’s atmosphere reached the composition that still prevails today - and which is the precondition for life, as we know it, to exist on Earth. In this film, we will undertake a journey from Earth’s surface to the exosphere and, on the way, we will learn about the different layers of Earth’s atmosphere
